I believe this is the only backrest made for the 2018 Suzuki Burgman 400. They did a great job on this product. It is solid and really made with the rider in mind. Quality is top notch. Serious leather. I can't believe the size of the pocket that's built in and zippered with a large flap to keep out the elements. Seems, to me, to be overpriced, but it does the job.
The only reason I didn’t give five stars on the review is because the Velcro that holds the pouch onto the back of the backrest had the same material sewn onto both the pouch and the backrest, so the pouch wouldn’t hold in place. This is something that should’ve been caught during a quality inspection. Other than that this product is top-notch.

It took some time to install, pictures could have been better in color! I had a question and owner?? answered the phone and walked me thru it! If I had to do another, NO PROBLEM in 25% of the time!

I placed my order for the Utopia back rest for my Goldwing early one morning and quickly realized I didn't change the shipping to be asap since I was going out of town (on a ride) in a couple days. I gave the guys a call and spoke to the first brother who took care of the online side and after voicing my concerns he said he would have his brother call me that deals with the warehouse. It wasn't long after I got that call and I explained my situation to him and that I was willing to pay whatever to have the shipping done quicker. He double checked my address and told me with their normal shipping the back rest would be here in two days so we ended the call and two days later my back rest was at my house and installed a few minutes later.
Qualy and design match was good. Affordable too. Fairly easy to install once I got the seat off! I’m happy with the results.
I have a 2022 Electra Glide, Police model, (FLHTP). One of the main selling points of this bike, for me, is the coil over spring, solo tractor seat. Because the seat moves, the backrest needs to move with it. That is what brought me to Utopia Products. I am 6 foot 6 inches, 250 lbs, and have a bad back. I need to have a backrest.
The hardest part of the installation was drilling the mounting holes in the seat's steel frame. That was only because I didn't have steel drilling, drill bits. Once I got the proper bits, it was a snap. Lining up and marking the spots to drill was quite easy.
The rest of the set-up was even easier. This system allows for very precise adjustments to put the backrest in the most desirable location. There are 2 major adjustment points. One is for the height. Just remove the 2 screws and realign the holes to the height you need, and put the screws back in. The second is the pitch, front to back. Simply lossen the lock nut and adjust the bolt up and down, to hit that sweet spot. This can take a couple short rides to get right. Then just tighten up the lock nut.
The pocket on the back is a nice touch. It offers a good place to store a small tool set, registration papers, a couple snack bars, or whatever.
After using a couple of other brand backrest which I did not like, 22 years ago a purchased the Utopia Comfort backrest and never looked back. Years later I developed a need for an even lower backrest with more low back support. The lower Sport version resolved that issue. Utopia makes the best backrest...period.
Leather finish is nice.
Metal parts would be nice to have better welding and finish.
So far that part is ugly, doesn't match leather quality and work.
Rest is comfortable, installation simple.

Now, that I've aged and downsized to a 2026 Suzuki Burgman 400, I needed back support. Utopia satisfied my needs. Since June, I've enjoyed the back support and comfort of your Drivers Backrest!

This is a top of the line rider backrest. With minimal skills and tools it is easy to install. Multiple adjustments to get the backrest where it is most comfortable for each rider. UTube videos are a plus to help with installation.
I hesitated to order the backrest at first because I thought I might be disappointed after cutting and modifying my back seat. Installation was straightforward and once it was on I had to adjust my technique for mounting the bike a bit. Easy enough to step on the peg and throw a leg over so that wasn't an issue. Once I rode with it adjusted I'm finding my back is in a much more comfortable angle and I can relax against the rest. It will make a higher difference on long rides. I'm glad I tried it! Concerning customer service, I called the shop and one of the owners helped with any questions I had and this reassured me that they're a legitimate business with customer oriented service.
Easy install and great quality. Makes a big difference in the ride comfort. No back pain.
Just rode 6,300 miles on my 2019 Gold Wing Tour and by the end of that trip I was ready to ride the bike off a cliff. Everything about the Wing is right except that there’s nothing holding the rider up. You’re supporting yourself for hours and it catches up with you quickly. I reached out to Utopia, got the rider backrest, and now it’s a completely different bike. This is how it should have come from the factory and I only wish I ordered it before my trip. Easy install, and the fatigue that used to show up a few hours in just isn’t there anymore. Thank you!!!
I’ve wanted a backrest for a while, and after doing some research Utopia seemed to be the best option for my 2016 R1200RT.
Install was pretty easy and the instructions explained everything well. Took me probably a few hours to install and that was taking my time doing it all. Most time consuming part was removing all the old staples from the seat.
Did have to buy a cheap pneumatic stapler to do the job and install the cover back onto the seat pan.
Well designed, took me a few hours to install once I got the 1/4" deep staples. High qualty product looks very well constructed. Completed a 5 hour ride after the install and it provided great back support. Thanks for the great product
After reading forum reviews of backrests, I bought a Utopia backrest for our '18 Can-Am Spyder LT with standard seat, and opted for the "Quickout" bar. The backrest is very comfortable. The optional "Quickout" works well too. The instructions are well illustrated and easy to follow.
Really like the quality and comfort. I was surprised the leather was a near perfect match. Install was easy. Happy with the purchase, no complaints.
The product installed fine after I spent quite a bit of time looking for valid instructions for my Grand America. It works great, looks good. All things considered, I would purchase it again . . . after urging Utopia to level up the instructions part of the purchase.
