I hesitated to order the backrest at first because I thought I might be disappointed after cutting and modifying my back seat. Installation was straightforward and once it was on I had to adjust my technique for mounting the bike a bit. Easy enough to step on the peg and throw a leg over so that wasn't an issue. Once I rode with it adjusted I'm finding my back is in a much more comfortable angle and I can relax against the rest. It will make a higher difference on long rides. I'm glad I tried it! Concerning customer service, I called the shop and one of the owners helped with any questions I had and this reassured me that they're a legitimate business with customer oriented service.
Easy install and great quality. Makes a big difference in the ride comfort. No back pain.
Just rode 6,300 miles on my 2019 Gold Wing Tour and by the end of that trip I was ready to ride the bike off a cliff. Everything about the Wing is right except that there’s nothing holding the rider up. You’re supporting yourself for hours and it catches up with you quickly. I reached out to Utopia, got the rider backrest, and now it’s a completely different bike. This is how it should have come from the factory and I only wish I ordered it before my trip. Easy install, and the fatigue that used to show up a few hours in just isn’t there anymore. Thank you!!!
I’ve wanted a backrest for a while, and after doing some research Utopia seemed to be the best option for my 2016 R1200RT.
Install was pretty easy and the instructions explained everything well. Took me probably a few hours to install and that was taking my time doing it all. Most time consuming part was removing all the old staples from the seat.
Did have to buy a cheap pneumatic stapler to do the job and install the cover back onto the seat pan.
Well designed, took me a few hours to install once I got the 1/4" deep staples. High qualty product looks very well constructed. Completed a 5 hour ride after the install and it provided great back support. Thanks for the great product
After reading forum reviews of backrests, I bought a Utopia backrest for our '18 Can-Am Spyder LT with standard seat, and opted for the "Quickout" bar. The backrest is very comfortable. The optional "Quickout" works well too. The instructions are well illustrated and easy to follow.
Really like the quality and comfort. I was surprised the leather was a near perfect match. Install was easy. Happy with the purchase, no complaints.
The product installed fine after I spent quite a bit of time looking for valid instructions for my Grand America. It works great, looks good. All things considered, I would purchase it again . . . after urging Utopia to level up the instructions part of the purchase.
The only recommendations I would make is to use an air stapler to put back the cover.
And watch your angle ,as you can easily go through the plastic too far. And use a flat not round staple as the smallest you can get is 1/2 inch.

This review is on Utopia hardware. I ordered and received the hardware that fastened the under receiver bracket. I am very grateful and they you sent the screws as well as the female threaded hardware.

Without the backrest any speed above 55 tries to tear you clean off the bike. With the backrest I stay in place and it helps keep my posture good too. Install was easier than you'd think. Very well thought out.

I 1st got a Utopia backrest -in 2018 for my 2016 Yamaha Super Tenere ES after a major back surgery. It enabled me to continue riding, even for long 10 hour + days. I recently purchased a new left over 2025 Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro and had Utopia fit it with a backrest.
